Ilkay Gundogan, Kieran Gibbs and Emre Can were just some of the players who reacted to Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil holding up a Fenerbahçe scarf on Instagram.

It has been well-documented for months and months now that Ozil’s future at Arsenal is coming to an end.

Well, it seems as though his next destination will be Turkey and donning the shirt of one of their famous clubs in Fenerbahçe.

After Ozil posted a picture of him holing the Turkish giants scarf, it drew a number of responses on Instagram and this is how players reacted to the news.

Manchester City’s £20 million midfielder [BBC Sport], who is a German national of Turkish background, Gundogan, wrote: ‘Congratulations, your way is clear,’

Whilst one of Arsenal’s current academy products, Joe Willock, who would have seen first hand what the World Cup winner is like in training wrote: ‘The Goat’.

Meanwhile, West Brom defender, Kieran Gibbs, who would have seen Ozil’s best years in North London added: ‘Good luck, bro’, along with ex-Liverpool midfielder Emre Can.

It seems as though the long-winded drama involving Ozil is finally going to come to an end, and it has been some story.

Whether or not he goes down as an Arsenal great remains to be seen because it seems as though he will be a marmite-like figure at the Emirates long before he has retired.
