Carney Chukwuemeka has told Dane Scarlett on Instagram this is ‘your time’ after the upcoming Tottenham striker secured a loan move to Portsmouth.
Tottenham confirmed on their website on Wednesday evening that their highly-rated prospect has moved to the League One side on a loan deal for the entire 2022/23 campaign.
This is Scarlett’s first venture into the hard-hitting and all-action football league and it will provide fans with an idea of where his talents lie.
At youth level, whether it’s for Spurs or England, he has continued to excel, including winning the European Championships this summer with England’s U19’s.
Aston Villa talent Chukwuemeka was part of that victorious squad, including scoring in the final, as he sent his best wishes to his international teammate on the striker’s IG.
In the comments section of Scarlett’s post, Harvey White, who was also loaned to Pompey a number of seasons ago, told him to ‘Smash it, brother. Top club, you will enjoy’.
TIME FOR SCARLETT TO SHINE
A number of seasons ago, Josh Onomah was in a not too dissimilar position to Scarlett, where he thrived at the European Championships with England, before securing a loan move to then-Championship side Aston Villa.
The attack-minded midfielder was seen as a top prospect by Spurs and someone who could possibly become a fixture in the first-team for the long-term.
But, there is a massive difference between making the ball talk at youth level than it is out in the wild of the football league because it’s a completely different kettle of fish.
Onomah found that out at Villa, and struggled, so patience needs to be required with Scarlett because his development might be slower than some think.
But if he thrives, then the teenage goalscorer has the world at his feet, including future appearances in Tottenham’s first team.
