A rumoured Arsenal trialist once claimed that the club ‘feels like home’ to him.
Mitchel Bergkamp, whose father Dennis has a statue outside the Emirates Stadium, is currently training at London Colney and could be offered a deal by the Gunners’ Under-23s, according to Goal.
Bergkamp senior also played for Ajax and Inter Milan in a decorated career.
But it was not until his father’s Arsenal spell that the younger Bergkamp was born.
In fact, the latter spent the first nine years of his life in Hadley Wood – a short drive from the Gunners’ training facility, which he used to attend as a spectator, mixing with the likes of Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira.
He’s spent the rest of it in his family’s native Netherlands, where he came through the ranks at Almere City before being released this summer.

But Bergkamp Jnr told ELF Voetbal two years ago: “My father also played for Internazionale and Ajax, two wonderful clubs, but Arsenal feels like home.
“Whether I choose the Emirates or Highbury? Then I would have preferred to play at Highbury. There are the memories of everything my father did for the club.”
