Wigan fans on Twitter have backed Joe Gelhardt to smash it at Leeds after he made a switch to Elland Road on Monday.

It has been a busy few days at Leeds, with Jack Harrison returning to the club on loan, Charlie Allen signing from Linfield and Gelhardt also making his switch.

All are top talents, especially the teenage duo, who will be hoping to thrive under the stewardship and coaching levels of Marcelo Bielsa.

In regards to Gelhardt, Wigan fans have made it clear to Leeds that they are signing a top talent and someone who will thrive in Yorkshire.

Some compared the 18-year-old to a ‘young’ Wayne Rooney, and if he can replicate the England legends career by just a small percentage then Leeds fans will be in for a treat.

Given Gelhardt’s inexperience and age, it may seem from that outside that he won’t feature that much for Leeds in the Premier League just yet, but Bielsa is in charge.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the English teenager feature heavily when the new season begins next month and he may well find himself starting if he impresses Bielsa enough.

Here is a selection of Wigan fans reacting to Gelhardt’s move to Leeds, as they try to explain what the Elland Road faithful can expect from the youngster:
