Jose Mourinho does not use young players has become a cliche. The Spurs boss has preferred experience over youth in the past, but most of the youngsters he has given a chance to have gone on to have excellent careers.
One young Tottenham player Mourinho has been particularly fond of is Japhet Tanganga. The Spurs boss handed a debut to the teenager against Liverpool last season and he truly impressed.
Mourinho labelled his performance as ‘fantastic’ (Football London) and the youngster was handed a long-term contract. Tanganga played 11 times in all competitions for Spurs last season but missed a period after lockdown due to injury.
He spent the last few games of the campaign as an unused substitute but injury problems returned this season. Tanganga started the game against Chelsea in the League Cup, yet a thigh injury has kept him away from action.
His absence has forced Mourinho to use someone like Ben Davies in an unnatural centre-back position. However the Spurs boss can now breathe a sigh of relief, as Tanganga has returned to training with the first team.

Tottenham live-streamed a part of their training session on Twitter, and Tanganga was spotted by the fans. Supporters went wild seeing their ‘young prince’, and Mourinho will also be delighted that his favourite young defender is back on the pitch.
