Huddersfield Town prospect Philip Billing will be handed the opportunity to feature against Manchester City in place of cup-tied Aaron Mooy.
Huddersfield Town’s Philip Billing has told Sky Sports he is relishing the chance to come up against Yaya Toure in tomorrow’s FA Cup Fifth Round clash against Manchester City at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The young Danish star will be chosen by David Wagner to fill the void left in the Terriers’ midfield by the cup-tied Aaron Mooy, who is firmly in Pep Guardiola’s City plans for next season, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Billing told Sky Sports: “I’ve always watched Toure, ever since he was at Barca. I just think he’s a really good footballer.
“He’s got everything and it will be a good test to play against him. He’s showing now just what he’s capable of at Man City.”
20-year-old Billing has been used in a defensive midfield role recently in place of the injured Jonathan Hogg, but will now be given licence to play in his preferred advanced role by Wagner.
The youngster has showcased an ability to net wonder goals, and was hoping to nail down a starting spot in the Town team this season after being handed the number 8 shirt but has found his opportunities limited by injury and form of other players.
Nevertheless, the 6’4″ midfielder has continued to attract Premier League interest, with the Daily Mail reporting that Crystal Palace were the latest club to have a bid turned down on January deadline day.
Billing, who joined the Terriers’ youth setup in 2014, has already equalled last season’s tally of 13 appearances and has scored one goal this campaign.
