Nobody likes missing a game, but this young lad went to great lengths to tell his club that it was only a one time thing.

When five-year-old Louis Kayes from Moodiesburn in North Lanarkshire was unable to attend Celtic’s game against Motherwell, he was distraught. Unfortunately the event clashed with his friend’s birthday party, and despite describing the event as “good” he still wanted to be given the opportunity to explain himself. As reported by BBC, his mother Lisa Kayes told BBC Radio Scotland that her son actually rang the club in order to try and speak to manager Brendan Rodgers and his favourite player Scott Brown.

Louis had supposedly borrowed his 35-year-old mum’s phone in order to make the call, and before she could do anything to stop him she was already hearing the sound of the voicemail from Celtic Park.

“He was in the living room with my phone and then I heard the voicemail message from Celtic Park saying ‘thank you for calling’.” said Lisa when speaking to BBC Radio Scotland.

“He wanted to let both of them know he’d missed it in case they were looking for him,” she said.

At the very least, the world is hoping that young Louis’ message of apology was received by Rodgers and Brown after he went to such lengths to speak to them.

Whether or not there will be a response from the club remains to be seen, but regardless of that Louis ensured his beloved Celtic that there was no way he would be missing their crunch UEFA Champions League clash against Borussia Monchengladbach.
