Younes Kaboul has taken to Twitter to send a message to his former club Sunderland’s fans after he left for Watford earlier this summer.

The French centre-back agreed a three-year deal with Watford, leaving Sunderland shortly after David Moyes replaced Sam Allardyce at the helm.

The 30-year-old made just 24 appearances for the Black Cats before moving on, although his starting spot for the opening game of the season against Manchester City suggested that he would have had chances under Moyes if he had stayed, despite a few new faces this summer.

Instead he moved on, joining other former Tottenham Hotspur players Etienne Capoue and Heurelho Gomes at the Hornets.

Sunderland clearly has a place in his heart and he took to social media on Monday evening to send a parting message now the craziness of the summer transfer window has died down.

“Thanking all the Sunderland fans for my time at the club,” the defender wrote. “Memories will be on me forever.”

The Black Cats have just one point from their first three matches and they will be hoping to turn things round when they get back to domestic action against Everton a week today.
