Charlie Adam has singled out Scott Wright for praise following Rangers’ Scottish Cup win on Sunday night.
The 23-year-old earned his full debut for the light Blues and helped them to a 4-0 win over Cove Rangers at Ibrox.
Wright only joined Steven Gerrard’s side from Aberdeen in January and had struggled to make a starting lineup under the Gers boss.
But he made the most of his opportunity last night, setting up Kemar Roofe for his side’s fourth of the night.
And Adam, speaking via The Scottish Sun, admits that he was very impressed – and surprised – by the winger, claiming that it wasn’t immediately obvious that he only joined the club a few months ago.
He said: “I saw that tonight with Scott Wright and you wouldn’t think Rangers only just signed him in January. He looks like he’s been in the door for a while.
“I thought he was excellent and the more he plays and understands what Rangers is all about he’ll understand the formation and what the manager wants from him in and out of possession. He’s got great speed and can see a pass and he’s got a great future at Rangers.”
There’s a glamour tie for Rangers in the next round.
Last night’s win ensured that Gerrard’s troops will meet Celtic in the fourth round of the competition, with the tie to take place at Ibrox on April 17 or 18.
The Bears are 20 points clear of their Old Firm rivals in the Premiership, having already won the title, and it’ll be fascinating to see whether Gerrard continues with the likes of Wright or names his best-possible XI against the Hoops.
