Gary Neville has claimed that if Liverpool sold one of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane they ‘wouldn’t even miss them’, as he told Sky Sports Premier League (06/03/22 at 1:35 pm).
The Sky pundit made reference to Liverpool’s transfer business, mentioning the likes of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz, and how before their arrival, fans would have been ‘frightened to death’ thinking how they would replace their star trio.
But that’s not the case now because Jota, who has 12 Premier League goals this season, has pushed Firmino out of the XI.
Whilst January signing Diaz has slotted in on Merseyside like he has been here for years and years.
Either way, Neville praised the transfer business that has been conducted by the Reds and how they now have a long-term future after Mane, Firmino and Salah leave.
“Liverpool fans would have been frightened to death thinking ‘how do we replace, Salah, Mane and Firmino’,” said Neville.
“You now have Jota and Diaz. Now, all of a sudden you are thinking ‘probably one of those three could go and you wouldn’t even miss them, as much as a great job they have done’.
“But that continual good recruitment and that replenishing of the resources means that they are in a brilliant position now to spring forward again.”

Harvey Elliott is another player making strides and someone who could slot in on that right-hand side, if need be.
Come the summer, with Salah’s future at the club still up in the air, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool bring anyone in to possibly play on that right-hand side.
Of course, Liverpool fans want Salah to stay and so does he, but at this moment in time, no contract has been signed.
And, perhaps, to safeguard their future on that right flank, it wouldn’t be a surprise if another Diaz-like signing is made in the summer.
