‘You will’: Sherwood directly tells Tottenham player what he’ll do after yesterday’s win

Tim Sherwood has directly told Harry Kane that he will ‘go on run’ and score 20+ goals for Tottenham this season, as he told Premier League Productions.

Spurs recorded a 3-2 win at St James’ Park on Sunday, with Kane scoring his first Premier League goal of the campaign.

It was by far Kane’s best performance of the season and one of relief for all involved with the North London club.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg did very well to dink the ball over towards the Englishman, and without hesitation, he knocked the ball over the on-rushing Newcastle keeper to, at the time, put Spurs 2-1 ahead.

That attacking run and first-time finish yesterday by Kane proved that form is temporary and class is permanent.

Sherwood was the one who brought Kane through as a youngster and he thinks the likes of Mo Salah were ‘getting away from him’, but that no-one longer will be the case.

“He would have liked to have started quicker.” said Sherwood. “He would have seen the likes of Mo Salah and Lukaku, even though he hadn’t scored in six, getting away from him.

“Harry will be quick to tell us that he has scored ten goals this season. And one in the Premier League. But that’s all the kick start he needs now. He will go on now and score 20+ goals for Tottenham.

Sherwood was then speaking to Kane directly and said: “Harry, I think you are up and running now. I think you will go on a run and there is somebody sitting opposite me (Alan Shearer) hoping that you don’t (both Kane and Shearer laughed).”

Even Kane at his absolute best would do very well to keep up with someone like Salah, who is probably the best player in the world right now.

The Liverpool forward, who scored yet another brilliant solo goal over the weekend, has scored in every game for his club this season in all competitions, apart from Burnley.

Just like Kane last season, the Egyptian is in the form of his life and he may be the one to stop in the race for the Golden Boot.

It’s Kane who is currently holding that award, and even though he has taken up until mid-October to get going, he will be fighting toe-to-toe with the Premier League’s best come May.
