Jamie Carragher has now been mocked by Gary Neville for what he said about Liverpool earlier this season.
What’s the story?
Well, the Liverpool legend decided to bring up some of his Sky Sports colleague’s comments from earlier in the campaign to poke fun at him, such as “people just take the ball off Messi” nowadays.
In retaliation, Neville reiterated the fact that Carragher predicted Liverpool won’t get “anywhere near” top four this season a few months ago.
Now, as the Reds sit fifth – three points off fourth with a game in hand – that comment has certainly backfired.
You can see what Neville wrote on Twitter in full below.
While Liverpool fans may have wanted to see Carragher show a bit more faith in them earlier this season, they will love what he responded to the 48-year-old.
Carragher didn’t utter a word in response, but simply posted a photo of Mohamed Salah twisting Lisandro Martinez in knots during Liverpool’s 7-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.
Clearly, the 45-year-old has all the bragging rights at the moment, regardless of what he predicted earlier this season.
Neville & Carragher surely shocked by Liverpool
In fairness to Carragher, his prediction seemed accurate at the time – Liverpool appeared to have no chance of qualifying for the Champions League this season.
However, a recent run of four wins and one draw from their last five Premier League outings have seen Jürgen Klopp’s side surge up the table, and they now look well placed to make the top four as Tottenham and Newcastle falter.

It has been a remarkable recovery from Liverpool, to say the very least – in truth, the Reds didn’t even look likely to qualify for the Europa League at one stage.
Surely, even two of the best analysts around in Carragher and Neville didn’t see this coming.
