Brian Brobbey has been speaking to Ajax ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash with Liverpool in Group A as he aims to outdo Erling Haaland.

The 20-year-old has scored eight goals in 11 appearances since rejoining the Dutch giants in a £14m deal back in July, although he is yet to find the net in four Champions League outings this term.

Nevertheless, Brobbey has backed himself to do what Haaland couldn’t and score against Liverpool.

Ajax forward gunning for Liverpool

Well, the Dutchman is certainly a confident striker.

Speaking to Ajax ahead of the clash in Amsterdam, Brobbey was asked what he will do differently to Haaland when he faces Liverpool tonight.

“Score. Then I do something differently.”

In response, the Ajax No.9 was asked how he will score, as Liverpool boast quite a strong defence.

Brobbey responded: “True. But I can’t spell it out for you already. You will see on Wednesday night.”

We don’t have to wait much longer until we can see if the Netherlands Under-21 international puts his money where his mouth is.

Liverpool must bounce back against Ajax

The highs of shackling Haaland and beating Manchester City 1-0 at Anfield have quickly dissipated after the embarrassing 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest last week.

Therefore, Liverpool must use tonight’s game as an opportunity to go full strength and bounce back from that defeat, as there are some significant matches before the World Cup.

Jürgen Klopp must ensure his side do not drop any more points in the upcoming Premier League encounters with Leeds, Tottenham and Southampton, or else the Reds will have a huge task on their hands to make up the ground when domestic football resumes in December.

If he lives up to his bold comments by firing Ajax to victory tonight, Brobbey could put a huge dent in Liverpool’s confidence, and their hopes of getting nine points out of those three games.
