Gary Neville questioned on Sky Sports PL (23/08/21 at 10:25 pm) ‘why’ Everton fans haven’t liked the idea of David Moyes returning to Goodison Park, now that he is thriving in West Ham colours.
West Ham have won their opening two games of the season, scoring eight goals, including outclassing Leicester City 4-1 on Monday night.
This follows Moyes also guiding the Hammers to the Europa League last season, something Everton have been craving for a number of years now.
Even this summer, when Carlo Ancelotti left Goodison Park in an abrupt fashion, there were suggestions of Moyes possibly returning to Merseyside.
Neville questioned why Everton supporters wouldn’t want Moyes back given the work he is now doing.
“Everton have wanted him back a couple of times over the years,” said Neville. “And the fans have been a little sort of not that pleased about it.
“You think ‘why?’. He did an unbelievable job at Everton the first time around and he is doing a great job now at West Ham.”

It’s not like Moyes has been splashing the cash and he should be achieving such success with the East London club.
Just like his Everton days, he has had little to spend and he has had to rely on markets that others perhaps wouldn’t dip into.
Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal both arrived from the Czech Republic and have been high-quality bargains for the club.
Now, with West Ham flying high early on in the season, they can now plan for their forthcoming European fixtures.
