Tottenham forward, Steven Bergwijn, seems to be enjoying his mini-break in Amsterdam and it has caught the attention of Ajax supporters.
The Tottenham 24-year-old posted an image on his Instagram story of himself in Holland’s capital, as you can see below.
Now, the Premier League is on a winter break, so it could just be a simple case of the flying winger going back home to visit family.
Or, for some Ajax supporters, it’s convenient that he is back home, hours before transfer deadline day and when he has been attracting interest from the club.
Prior to Bergwijn’s dramatic brace at Leicester City a number of weeks ago, there was strong talk that he could be heading for Tottenham’s exit door.
But those two utterly devastating moments at the King Power seemed to have changed the tide from him leaving Spurs to now staying.
Despite that, Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Ajax aren’t giving up the fight to sign the player before Monday’s deadline.
Well, if that’s the case, then he’s certainly in the right place for something to happen.
Those in Ajax colours clearly want the deal to happen, but it would be a huge blow for Spurs if he leaves because he was just starting to put his foot down on the accelerator under Antonio Conte.
Whatever does or doesn’t happen, the logical thinking has to be that Bergwijn is simply visiting family back home, even if Ajax fans want it to be a lot more.
