Don Hutchison has praised Jose Mourinho’s comments where he stated that he will ‘never accept’ a draw as Tottenham manager.

The former Reds defender told Premier League Productions ‘that’s what you want to hear’ if you are a Tottenham supporter.

On Thursday, Mourinho will celebrate his one-year anniversary in North London, and as always with the Portuguese, it’s been entertaining on and off the field.

Nonetheless, BBC pundit Hutchison backed Spurs to win a trophy this season, as he highlighted those Mourinho comments.

“You see what he’s saying in his interview there,” said Hutchison. “You are sitting and listening where Jose is saying ‘if you offer me a draw against anyone in the world, doesn’t matter the stadium, the scenario, the team, anything, I will never take it’.

“That’s what you want to hear! I fancy Jose’s team to be one of the best teams in the Europa League. They can certainly look at that and a League Cup. But you wouldn’t put it past Jose and Tottenham to win something this season.

On whether they can win the league: “We are putting Leicester in the conversation, of course, they can. We cannot sit here and say ‘Tottenham cannot win the league’. I don’t think we can.

“He [Mourinho] seems different as well, doesn’t he?!”

Tottenham have been crying out for that missing ingredient to push them over the line in their quest to win a trophy.

And many would argue that Mourinho is that spice they have been looking to add to their unbalanced mix.

Whilst Tottenham’s opening day defeat to Everton deflated the fan base, they are unbeaten since then and are making some positive noises.
