Son Heung-min has lauded James Maddison as a ‘very clever’ player for Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old has only been at Tottenham for a matter of months, yet he is already a fan favourite, with Son Heung-min adding that he is the ‘star boy every week’.
The Tottenham captain also applauded what James Maddison does off the ball and how he is an ‘unselfish’ player, as he told his post-match interview.
The big players step up during the big moments and the club’s new number ten did just that on Sunday.
The north London derby is the biggest game any Spurs player can play in, with James Maddison helping himself to a brace of assists – Jude Bellingham was left seriously impressed.
Son Heung-min benefited from the magic showcased by the Englishman, as he lauded the qualities he has at his feet.

James Maddison praise
“You see every single game, he is the star boy,” said Son. “He’s very, very clever. He sees the picture before he receives the ball and he knows what he wants to do.
“It’s not often that people don’t see it. I think he is very smart. Very clever movement. And, by the way, he is very unselfish.
“In a general package, I think he is doing an amazing job for the team. Even with and without the ball.”

James Maddison loves the pressure
That’s the key thing here. Maddison, naturally as a player, loves the spotlight and the pressure that comes with it.
Given that nature, it has helped him settle in far quicker in north London, as well as taking the pressure of that number ten shirt.
Maddison could have easily felt sorry for himself when Harry Kane left, but instead, he took his shirt number and has now decided to acquire the responsibility that comes with it.
