Earlier this week, it was said that Newcastle have offered Ivan Perisic the chance to play in the Premier League, with his contract expiring soon.
The 33-year-old becomes a free agent in June, and now, he has taken a swipe at Inter Milan for their handling of his contract situation.
What’s the story?
Well, this incident might just have increased the likelihood of Perisic leaving the San Siro this summer.
As quoted by Football Italia, the Croatia international said: “I don’t know anything yet. With important players, you don’t wait to the last minute. You ought to know that too.”
Clearly, the Split-born attacker, who Antonio Conte rates very highly, is not happy with the Italian giants.
Perisic’s comments come just days after he scored twice against Juventus in the Coppa Italia final, to secure a 4-2 win after extra-time.
By the sounds of it, he doesn’t feel much love from Inter Milan.

However, Beppe Marotta – Chief Executive Officer at Inter Milan – is still confident that an agreement can be reached with the man they paid €20m (£17m) for.
As quoted by Sempre Inter, he said: “We’re not at match point, certainly. If he has a desire to stay with us, we’re happy to satisfy him. I’m very confident in that sense.”
Ivan Perisic would shine at Newcastle
In our view, if he does become a free agent, Perisic will be among the most attractive free transfers in Europe.

The Croatian is a fine player, who boasts incredible technical skills. So far this season, he has scored nine goals in 47 appearances, while also providing eight assists.
It only takes one glance at his second goal in the aforementioned 4-2 win over Juventus to see just how technically gifted he is.
At 33, Perisic wouldn’t be a long-term addition for Eddie Howe, although he would bring vast experience, and a useful squad option given his versatility.
