It was quite the eventful Copa America encounter last night and Aston Villa and Everton duo, Emi Martinez and Yerry Mina, were at the heart of it all.
The semi-final showdown, between Colombia and Argentina, went to penalties, with Villa’s shot-stopper saving three penalties, including one from the Everton defender.
During the previous game, when Colombia beat Uruguay on penalties, Mina danced after scoring his spot-kick even though it wasn’t the winning one.
And before he stepped up last night, Martinez could be heard taunting the Everton man by shouting ‘I know you are nervous’ and ‘I am going to eat you up’, as posted by FourFourTwo
Then Martinez backed up his talk by flying to his left-hand side and saving what was a pretty good penalty by the central defender.
That save sent, albeit it wasn’t a winning one yet, the Argentina players wild, including Messi who started shouting ‘how about dancing now’, as reported by CBS host, Nico Cantor.
It was a game full of drama and excitement, and in the end, it was one to forget for Mina.
But for Martinez, he is rightly being lauded and a hero, including by Messi himself.
