Harry Redknapp has lauded the ‘enthusiasm’ shown by new Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, as he told talkSPORT (22/12/21 at 7:45 am).

The former Premier League boss thinks Conte’s nature is infectious to everybody else at Tottenham given how he is on matchday, on the sidelines and on the training pitch.

Conte has been in Tottenham colours for over a month now and their supporters still probably can’t believe they have a man of his stature at their club.

All summer long, his name was being mentioned to replace Jose Mourinho in the dugout, instead, the club opted for someone further down the list in Nuno Espirito Santo.

That only lasted four months, with his last game in charge, their home defeat to Manchester United, resulting in the home fans booing the players and manager’s every move.

But Fabio Paratici, at the second time of asking, seemingly got his fellow countryman to say yes to the job and now he is on board.

Redknapp has walked the touchline in north London, just like Conte and he is seemingly loving what he is bringing to the table.

“It’s the enthusiasm,” said Redknapp. “He shows that enthusiasm, if you’re not enthusiastic as a manager, then you can’t expect the players to be. It comes from the top.

“When you look at him from the touchline when they score. He kicks every ball and he is probably like that on the training pitch as well. I think that rubs off on the team and the players.

“He is into them. He demands high standards every day and certainly on Saturday’s and Sunday’s. He’s getting that from them, at last. They are performing.”

It has been a pretty promising start for Conte so far and he will be hoping that continues tonight in the League Cup.

Spurs will host their bitter London rivals West Ham United, with the winner progressing through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Both teams are desperate to put that trophy in the cabinet and they wouldn’t want to make it worse by getting knocked out by their neighbours.

Therefore, if the game against Liverpool on Sunday was thunderous, 100 miles per hour and full of action.

Then, expect tonight’s fixture to go down the same route because it’s going to be a mouthwatering affair.
