Jude Bellingham has been told to snub a potential transfer to Liverpool and instead join Real Madrid, as Nigel Reo-Coker told BBC Sport.

The former Aston Villa midfielder thinks Bellingham should join up with Carlo Ancelotti in Madrid because of what the current European Champions are building.

Jurgen Klopp watched his Liverpool side suffer a narrow defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final last season, but now his team are at risk of not reaching next season’s edition of the competition at all.

As things stand, the Merseyside club are sitting outside of the Premier League’s top-four, as their troubles in the middle of the mark and in defence have continued despite the World Cup break.

If they end up losing out on that all-important Champions League spot, then they can wave goodbye to signing players like Bellingham.

But either way, for the 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund star himself, Reo-Coker thinks he should book a one-way ticket from Germany to Spain, rather than coming back to England.

“If you were Jude Bellingham, would you go to Liverpool right now with what you currently see?” asked Reo-Coker.

“You look at the other suitors – if I was Bellingham, I would go to Real Madrid. I would look at what Real Madrid are doing, what they are building, what they’ve got there, the young talent and what can be achieved, and I would go there.

“I would not go to Liverpool.”

LIVERPOOL NEED BELLINGHAM MORE

If Bellingham were to join Real Madrid, then it’s pretty understandable given what the 14-time European champions are building, especially in the middle of the park.

With the old pros Luka Modric and Toni Kroos still cooking, they then have the much-improved Federico Valverde at the top of his game, whilst Aurélien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga are the future.

In terms of game time, the 22-cap England international would have a fight on his hands to play on a regular basis at the Santiago Bernabeu, even if he would be playing for the elite team in the world.

Those at Anfield need him more and he starts yesterday, today and tomorrow for Klopp.
