Mark Lawrenson said on BBC Radio 5 Live (8:51pm, March 21, 2021) that Carlos Vinicius played well for Tottenham Hotspur against Aston Villa on Sunday evening.
The Liverpool legend was impressed by how Vinicius did defensively during Tottenham’s 2-0 win against Villa away from home at Villa Park in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old striker, signed on loan from Benfica in the summer of 2020, found the back of the net in the 29th minute.
Lawrenson said in the 64th minute of the match during his co-commentary duties on BBC Radio 5 Live (8:51pm, March 21, 2021): “Do you know what? Vinicius has done really, really well defensively. I thought it would be a bit like a wet Wednesday, but he has been strong and he has held players up in his own 18-yard box.”
Impressive performance
Lawrenson seemed surprised by how well Vinicius performed, and one suspects that he is not the only one.
The Brazilian striker was making only his second Premier League start of the season, according to WhoScored, and the 25-year-old did well.

The striker worked hard and gave his all, and he will be pleased with his goal.
According to WhoScored, Vinicius took two shots and one ended in goal, had a pass accuracy of 30.8%, won five headers, took 29 touches, and made two clearances.
Perhaps the striker will get more chances in the Premier League and will get to make more starts in the coming weeks.
