Rio Ferdinand thinks Liverpool still have a chance to secure a possible top-four finish this season after their 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest.

The Manchester United legend stated that Forest ‘put Liverpool under it’ at Anfield on Saturday, but they came through it to add a valuable three points to their name.

After demolishing Leeds United by six on Monday night, it has been a rare week of enjoyment for Jurgen Klopp and his players.

The Reds are sitting seventh in the Premier League table. Nine points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who have played a game less and the same number of points behind third-placed Newcastle United.

Even if they win their remaining matches, it’s unlikely that Champions League football will be played on Merseyside next season.

But Ferdinand is still giving them a chance with seven games left, as he told FIVE.

“Nottingham Forest put them under it,” said Ferdinand. “But Liverpool got through with it by hook or by crook.

“They could sneak into the top four you know Liverpool.”

LIVERPOOL WILL NEED TO WIN ALL THEIR GAMES

At best, 71 points can be achieved by Liverpool and that has to be their aim if they are to secure Champions League football again.

It’s out of their hands, but all they can do now is ask the questions.

With Manchester United still to play the likes of Tottenham and Aston Villa, added to an FA Cup final to look forward to, plus Newcastle still yet to play Arsenal, then points are there to be dropped.
