Speaking on the Blood Red Podcast, Nat Phillips has been waxing-lyrical about his Liverpool teammate Thiago Alcantara.
The midfielder endured something of a mixed debut season in English football, but Phillips maintains that the Spaniard is a top player and that there’s a lot more to come from him.
What’s been said?
Phillips was speaking about his teammate on the podcast.
“He’s unbelievable. His technical ability and knowledge of the game. His head is always on a pivot,” Phillips said.
“He always knows exactly what is around him to the centimetre. He is a good talker as well and I love how he gets stuck into challenges, I like that side of his game.”
“At the start of the season, a few people were doubting him or weren’t sure about him. We were training with him day in, day out and we all knew from seeing him in training, and obviously what he has achieved in the game prior, that no-one needed to worry about him.
“Sort of, you haven’t seen anything yet. There were some moments he’d produce in matches later on that he had produced in training.
“In those moments, you know this guy is a serious player, so yeah just to have shared a pitch with him, is something I can look back on and be proud of because he is an unbelievable footballer.”

More to come
Phillips says there’s more to come from Thiago, and we have to agree with his point of view.
Thiago hasn’t had the best season of his career, but let’s be honest, he’s been thrown in at the deep end.
Liverpool’s injuries may have been mainly in the defence, but the midfield has been massively effected by the absences of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez due to the fact Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have had to be played out of position at times.
Fingers crossed we can see the best of Thiago next season in a Liverpool side that isn’t as affected by injury.
