Paul Scholes has claimed that ‘you have to feel sorry for Liverpool’ because he thinks Manchester City will win their remaining Premier League games this season.
The Manchester United legend added that Liverpool ‘wouldn’t have been hopeful’ of Watford getting anything from their 5-1 defeat to Man City on Saturday, as he told Premier League Productions (23/04/22 at 5:05 pm).
Pep Guardiola’s side opened up a four-point lead at the top of the Premier League table with that defiant win.
And now it’s up to the Reds to close that gap once more as they welcome their neighbours Everton to Anfield.
Scholes suggests that the title will be headed to Manchester once more and he added how Liverpool had their chance to beat their title rivals a number of weeks ago.
“Liverpool wouldn’t have been too hopeful today of Watford getting something from the game,” said Scholes.
“But Man City did the job and it looks like both teams are going to go on and win all their games.
“You have to feel sorry for Liverpool. But they had a big chance to beat Man City at their place and they didn’t manage to do that.”
From an emotional standpoint, Liverpool’s home game against Everton is a big one.
But, the Toffees have only won once at Anfield since the turn of the century and they are struggling near the bottom of the table.
It will be interesting to see what type of changes Jurgen Klopp makes because, if this was any other team near the bottom, then he might also have one eye on their Champions League semi-final clash next week.
Either way, whatever he decides, the pressure is back on the team still chasing all four trophies heading into May.
