John Stones has told his England teammate Tyrone Mings on Instagram ‘you have got this’ after he suffered a serious knee injury for Aston Villa.
It has been a week to forget for Aston Villa because, within the space of a few days, Unai Emery has had to deal with two of his players suffering long-term injuries.
At first, it was Emiliano Buendia, and now it’s his main centre-back, Tyrone Mings, who was crucial to them reaching Europe last season.
Not forgetting that two standout performers from last season – Alex Moreno and Jacob Ramsey missed pre-season because of injury.
Then, after many expecting big things of you this season, you go on to lose your opening Premier League game 5-1 at Newcastle United.
It’s not a good look for the Midlands side, with Mings receiving a number of messages of support from teammates in the comments of his Instagram post.

John Stones wrote: “You got this mate,” whilst Marvelous Nakamba added: “Speedy recovery, brother,” and Conor Coady said: “Course you will (come back stronger), brother.”
Step up Pau Torres
Luckily, Villa have done their business early and they have already signed left-footed centre-back, Pau Torres.
The hope was that he would compete alongside the likes of Mings, rather than replace him.
But, just like with Diego Carlos last season, this is just a bitter, bitter blow for the team and their aspirations to move forward.
