Kevin Campbell has ambitiously urged Edu to push for Erling Haaland if Arsenal secure Champions League football this season, as he told the Highbury Squad.

The Arsenal legend claimed ‘you get it’ because it’s something Mikel Arteta’s side ‘lack’ up top.

Alexandre Lacazette is Arsenal’s only senior striker now, after the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with Hale-End academy product, Eddie Nketiah as back-up.

It’s pretty clear that goals, or lack of it, from the number nine, is the club’s problem and something that needed to be addressed in January.

Those in the north London boardroom didn’t bring in a fresh face to replace Aubameyang and they will be hoping that it doesn’t hurt them down the line.

If Arteta manages to secure fourth spot with the Gunners, then this is the answer Campbell provided in the club pushing for Haaland during the summer transfer window.

“If you can get him, you get him,” said Campbell. “100%. If you can get him, then you get the best players in the building that you can.

“If you had to break the bank to get Haaland and that hindered you in filling the squad. Do you do it?

“That’s what we really lack, isn’t it? We lack that striker who is going to bang 20-25 goals in, so if you can get that, then you get it. If if it’s going to detriment (the squad).”

Whilst Dortmund’s flying superstar, who has 16 goals in Germany’s top tier from 14 matches, will have a very meetable clause in his contract in the summer.

Come the summer, only those with serious financial power will be able to lure his talents towards their direction.

With Mino Raiola as his agent, there is no doubt that he is going to demand crazy fees, add-ons, wages and all sorts when his client signs for a new club…if he signs for a new club.

And even if Arsenal get into the Champions League, it’s going to take something special and surprising for them to get him to the Emirates.
