Manchester City supporters reacted to Tottenham’s ‘classy’ message about Sergio Aguero following his retirement on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old has been forced to retire on ‘health’ grounds, as he told his press conference in Barcelona.

Tottenham posted the following message on their Twitter account when the news broke, as they congratulated him on a ‘remarkable’ career.

Manchester City fans react to the north London club’s tweet and praised them for their ‘classy’ gesture.

Aguero enjoyed his battles against Spurs and scored a fair few goals against them, including some drama-filled moments in the Champions League.

He left the Premier League in the summer and opted to join Barcelona to write a new chapter in his footballing career.

But unfortunate circumstances means that he can no longer continue, although he leaves the pitch as an iconic figure.

The last goal he ended up scoring was in El Clasico against Real Madrid, but he leaves with a far greater legacy than that.

The most hat-tricks in Premier League history, most goals by a foreign player in English football, multiple trophies, including Premier League titles and the best goals to minute ratio.

Aguero’s speed over short distances, power, precision and finishing capabilities would have left many opposition players having sleepless nights.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Manchester City fans reacting to Tottenham’s tweet:
