Liverpool’s Thiago Alcantara has congratulated former club Bayern Munich on Twitter.

On Saturday, Bayern won the Bundesliga title for the ninth successive season after Borussia Dortmund beat Leipzig 3-2 at the Westfalenstadion.

Thiago, who joined Liverpool from the German giants last summer, was at the Allianz Arena for seven years of this title-winning streak.

And here’s how some Liverpool fans responded to the Spanish midfielder’s congratulations tweet, with some questioning the quality of the division as a whole.

It must be said that Liverpool were also victorious on Saturday and Thiago did indeed acknowledge the 2-0 win over Southampton.

In fact, the 30-year-old midfielder bagged his first Premier League goal in the win over the Saints, following a £20 million switch from Bayern in September of last year.

The former Barcelona midfielder passed into the corner of the net beyond Fraser Forster in the dying minutes to seal the points for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

It was a major victory for Liverpool who moved six points behind fourth-placed Leicester City and, with the Reds boasting a game in hand, Champions League qualification is still a possibility for Klopp and co.

The Foxes only have three matches left, but they’re against Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham and it isn’t a huge stretch to believe Brendan Rodgers’s side could lose all three, having been beaten 4-2 by Newcastle United on Friday night.
