Erik Lamela and Sergio Reguilon congratulated Oliver Skipp on Instagram after he signed a new long-term contract at Tottenham.
On Wednesday, the club announced that Skipp has put pen-to-paper on a deal until 2027.
The 21-year-old posted on Instagram that he is ‘thrilled’ with this deal, as several of his current and former teammates sent him good wishes.
Reguilon posted in the comments section ‘Congrats bro. You deserve it’, whilst Lamela, who left the north London club last summer, simply added ‘congrats Skipp’.
Before Rodrigo Bentancur joined Spurs during the January transfer window, many fans would have felt that Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg were the two main midfield pairings.
It could even be argued that Skipp was perhaps the better performer of the two and it’s going to be interesting what Antonio Conte does with him once he returns from his injury.
From the get-go, Skipp has showcased that he belongs on the big stage, that’s why Mauricio Pochettino handed him his debut as a teenager.
And that’s why he also played a number of games in the Champions League when he was still in his teens.
Last season, Jose Mourinho opted to loan out the hard-hitting midfielder to then-Championship side, Norwich City.
It’s a move that worked out a treat because he helped the club earn promotion to the Premier League, whilst also taking his game to the next level.
But now it’s a case of staying away from the treatment room, remaining injury-free and becoming a regular under Conte.
