Jamie Carragher has claimed that he ‘couldn’t believe’ what Tottenham have done during these past few days in the race for the top-four, alongside the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, West Ham and Wolves, as he told Sky Sports PL (13/02/22 at 6:40 pm).

It has probably been a positive weekend for Arsenal, without playing, because Spurs, Man United and West Ham all dropped points.

Wolves were the only winners after their deserved 2-0 win at Tottenham, whilst the Hammers dropped points at Leicester and Ralf Rangnick’s men couldn’t see off Southampton.

All in all, it leaves the race for that final Champions League spot wide open, with the top three in a world of their own.

After West Ham scored a late equaliser at the King Power on Sunday, Carragher shared his thoughts on the race for the top four.

“It will be tough for them (Manchester United),” said Carragher. “If you actually look at it now, it actually hasn’t been the worst week in the world for Man United considering how poor they were against Southampton.

“I mean it has been an absolutely terrible four or five days for Tottenham. It really has.

“But Arsenal, what a result that was for them away at Wolves. And the games in hand, no European football. You don’t know how long Manchester United will be in the Champions League. That could play its part.

“You couldn’t believe what Spurs have done in the last few days. Man United are the same. Arsenal, we saw them draw a home game against Burnley.”

On paper, those at Old Trafford will feel that they have the squad that should be claiming that top-four spot.

At the end of the day, Man United did finish second last season and they have fallen off since then.

But Arsenal and Spurs aren’t in Europe, whilst Antonio Conte is in the dugout for one side of north London.

Wolves are perhaps the underdogs and have one of the best defences, whilst West Ham will want to write the wrongs of last season right.

All in all, this race will probably go down to the final week of the campaign.
