Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Michail Antonio has been chatting about Everton’s struggles and what it’s like to play against the Toffees at the moment.

Simply put, the Merseyside club are at their lowest ebb since the dawning of the Premier League. They’re in real danger of being relegated and their form is absolutely woeful.

Antonio has first-hand experience of playing against this Everton team, and he says that you can tell very easily just how nervy everyone at the club is on the pitch.

What’s been said?

Antonio spoke about playing against Everton.

“Yeah, you could tell that they’re quite nervy in the game. That first five or 10 minutes, you could see, they weren’t really on the ball, they were on the ball but they kept passing it sidewards and passing it sidewards, everytime we broke on them we were creating chances, at the back they were a bit shaky and going forward, it’s the same thing, in that situation you need to get people feeling confident to get the ball and to figure out whether they’re going to press or not,” Antonio said.

Lampard’s failings

If the players are feeling nervy within the first 10 minutes of a game, then something is going seriously wrong with the coaching at this club.

Frank Lampard should have his players raring to go, confident and excited before every game, but Antonio could sense their nerves within five minutes last weekend.

Lampard needs to find a way to make his players more relaxed or more confident, because at the moment, Everton are all over the place.
