Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing Liverpool and their recruitment strategy in recent years.

As you can imagine, Ferdinand was full of praise for Liverpool’s recruitment. The Reds have gotten almost every signing right and they’ve built a team capable of winning Premier League and Champions League trophies.

However, according to Ferdinand, there are two signings that Liverpool have arguably gotten wrong, Takumi Minamino and Naby Keita.

What’s been said?

Ferdinand gave his view on the Reds’ signings.

“The recruitment, the players come in and they hit the ground running, they don’t get many wrong you know, Minamino might be one, but he scored the other day, Minamino is probably one where you say you could get more out of him. Keita maybe as well, but after that, Tsimikas comes in and plays well, they just get it right,” Ferdinand said.

Not bad

You know your recruitment is good when your two so-called underwhelming signings are Minamino and Keita.

Minamino has a better goals per minute ratio than Mohamed Salah this season, while Naby Keita remains a very talented midfielder – albeit he hasn’t lived up to expectations.

You could only really call Minamino and Keita flops if you’re being harsh, and even then, there’s an argument to be made that they’ve done exactly what they were brought in to do.

Michael Edwards didn’t have his biggest hits with these two, but they’re not the worst signings you’ll ever see.
