Liverpool fans have hit back at Kylian Mbappé after he claimed on Twitter that Achraf Hakimi is the ‘best right-back in the world’.
On Tuesday, the Paris Saint-Germain flyer scored an outstanding free-kick to help Morocco beat Malawi 2-1 to book their place in the next round of the Africa Cup of Nations.
That resulted in his club teammate, Mbappé’, posting this following message on social media.
It’s fair to say that Liverpool fans had something to say about that because they feel Trent Alexander-Arnold is the king on the right flank.
With a Premier League and Champions League medal to his name, the Englishman is proving to be one of the most lethal attack-minded fullbacks in world football.
A mix of David Beckham and Kevin de Bruyne, for Liverpool, it’s like having the best playmaker produce his magic from right-back.
There is no doubt that players like Alexander-Arnold have transformed how ordinary right-backs used to perform over the years.
It’s not just a case of defending from that flank or putting in a shift, but seemingly becoming a number ten from that position.
For that, you need the passing range of a high-quality midfielder and someone like Alexander-Arnold has more than that because he operates like he has a Playstation controller in hand.
Nonetheless, it’s understandable that the Liverpool fans disagreed with Mbappé’s claim and they feel it’s their player who is the best in the world.
Perhaps one day, and the Reds fans can only dream, Mbappé moves to Anfield to see first-hand just how good TAA is.
But that’s a dream for the distant future for those on Merseyside, as Mbappé is out-of-contract at PSG in the summer.
Nonetheless, here is a selection of Liverpool fans reacting to Mbappé’s Twitter message on Hakimi:
