Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to mock West Brom’s pre-match tweet, which ended up looking rather foolish just nine minutes into the game.

Before kick-off at the Hawthorns, West Brom’s official account tweeted a photo of Romaine Sawyers along with the caption: ‘Romaine at the ready’.

Of course, you may well know that the midfielder had a moment to forget in the ninth minute.

Sawyers attempted to pass the ball back to Sam Johnstone, only for the ex-Manchester United glovesman to be away from his goal-line.

The ball then agonisingly trickled over the line, in what was a hugely embarrassing moment for the Baggies No.19.

Understandably, a number of Leeds fans jumped on West Brom’s pre-match tweet after the 29-year-old’s mistake.

It was a terrible incident of West Brom tempting fate, and it came back to bite them within ten minutes of their humiliating 5-0 hammering.

Sawyers has since taken to Twitter himself to apologise for the mix-up, in what is a good show of character and responsibility-taking from the midfielder.

However, Sam Allardyce has a serious mission on his hands to restore his side’s confidence after such a thumping.
