Jamie O’Hara has stated that he wants to see Hugo Lloris starting for Tottenham Hotspur on their Premier League return next week.
On Boxing Day, Spurs have a difficult visit to Brentford.
It remains to be seen if Lloris will be available between the sticks for Antonio Conte, who has Fraser Forster as a covering option.
Reason being, the France international has just lost a World Cup final to Argentina in Qatar and a seven-day break may not be enough for the former Lyon keeper, who earns £100,000 per week in North London.
However, O’Hara, a former Tottenham midfielder who remains an avid supporter of the Lilywhites, is adamant that Lloris should be named in Conte’s starting lineup for that occasion.
He told talkSPORT’s YouTube channel: “You’d hope so. Look, it’s the winter World Cup at the end of the day. You’ve got to get straight back into it. There’ll be players who miss Carabao Cup games but you can’t miss a Premier League game.
“You’ve got to come back. This is massive now. Tottenham have got to get into the top four in the Champions League so I’m expecting him back.”
It wouldn’t be a massive surprise Lloris wasn’t available.
Then again, Forster is genuinely a class covering option for the Frenchman.
The former Southampton figure made his debut in the League Cup defeat by Nottingham Forest a little earlier this season, having signed as a Bosman this past summer.
