Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Dean Jones has been discussing Tottenham’s transfer plans as they close in on their sixth signing of the summer.
After months of speculation, Spurs finally look set to sign Djed Spence from Middlesbrough, and according to Jones, Tottenham had planned to target six players in six positions this summer.
Spurs are about to tick off the last position on their shopping list, but according to the journalist, they may not be finished yet.
Indeed, Jones says that Tottenham may well dip back into the market at the end of the summer in order to sign a luxury player.
What’s been said?
Jones spoke about Spurs’ plans after landing Spence.
“What’s key to point out here is that Tottenham had six key positions and targets they wanted to tie up and Djed Spence will be number six. That is their key business done and I was always told once that business is done that you can’t rule out the idea that at the back end of the window a couple of luxury signings are made. Tottenham are traditionally always in that market at the back end of the window,” Jones said.

A creative midfielder or Depay?
If Tottenham are eyeing up a luxury signing, it may well be a new creative midfielder.
Spurs have, of course, bolstered their midfield by signing Yves Bissouma this summer, but with the likes of Christian Eriksen linked in the past, a creative midfielder may well be on the agenda.
One other option for Spurs would be to further bolster their attack, and if they do want to add a new forward to their ranks, one man who they could look towards is Memphis Depay.
The north Londoners have been consistently linked to Depay this summer, and Fabio Paratici is reportedly a big fan.
