Roy Keane has said on ITV (2:15pm, February 6, 2022) that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool simply have to tie down Mohamed Salah to a new contract.
The Manchester United legend has added that Liverpool owners FSG have to get Salah’s contract sorted before the start of next season.
Salah is out of contract at Liverpool in the summer of 2023.
Talks between the Reds and the Egypt international forward over a new deal are reportedly going on.
Roy Keane on Mo Salah and Liverpool
Keane said about Salah on ITV (2:15pm, February 6, 2022), as transcribed by The Daily Mail: “He is 29 but the modern players are machines. That is no issue
“From Liverpool’s point of view it is business, they have got to try and negotiate but Salah, you have got to get him signed up, he is one of the greatest players in the world. Got to get it done.
“If it goes into next season you really start to worry, but try to get it done and dusted. They might not have a choice [of it going into next season]. It is up to the player, the player is in charge. He said he is happy here and he is going to try and negotiate a better deal.
“Sometimes… he is going to get a great deal anyway, it’s not always about the money, is it about a new experience?
“But he has said a number of times here – I know he is going to say that – he is happy here and he is loved here, but Liverpool have got to try and get him signed up. You can’t just let good players like that go out the door particularly on a free.”

FSG need to heed Keane’s advice
In our view, Liverpool should do everything they can to keep Salah for the long term.
Salah is one of the best players on the planet and is absolutely world class.
Yes, the former Chelsea star is 29 now, but he is not showing any signs of slowing down.
Salah looks very fit, and his numbers prove just how committed he is to doing the best he possibly can.
The Liverpool no. 11 has scored 16 goals and provided nine assists in the Premier League, and has scored seven goals in the Champions League so far this season.
We think that FSG have to keep Salah, or else they could really struggle on the pitch.
