Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Telegraph shared a worrying update on the contract stalemate involving Mohamed Salah.

What’s the story?

Well, nerves are jangling among Liverpool supporters as Salah’s current terms expire in June 2023.

Ideally, the Reds do not want to find themselves in a position where their £34m man enters the final year of his contract.

However, The Telegraph believes Liverpool are unwilling to meet Salah’s salary demands and the 29-year-old is running out of ways to convince his employers to pay what he’s requesting.

The Egypt international – who is currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations – said he wasn’t asking for “crazy stuff”.

The Telegraph understands Salah is asking for £400,000 a week to match the wages Manchester City pay Kevin De Bruyne.

That is an exorbitant amount but then Salah is outperforming De Bruyne, so he’s entitled to ask for a similar salary.

FSG risk riots if they let Mohamed Salah leave Liverpool

In years gone by, Liverpool have lost superstars such as Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho as they’ve pushed for moves.

However, the Reds now find themselves in the position where one of the best players on the planet wants to stay at Anfield.

In that respect, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) cannot afford to mess this up.

The group is already quite unpopular at Anfield due to a perceived lack of investment, so if FSG lets Salah walk away, it risks the wrath of fans.

We’re not quite sure what else the ex-Chelsea man needs to do.

So far this season he has scored 23 goals while providing nine assists, which is simply incredible. If that can’t convince FSG to meet his demands, we’re not sure what will.

For now, let’s see what Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about The Telegraph‘s update…
