Paul Merson has criticised Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford on SportsKeeda for failing to convert a penalty against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at Elland Road in the Premier League this past weekend.

The former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit believes that Leeds were unlucky to lose against Arsenal.

The West Yorkshire club went down 1-0 to the Gunners at home in the league on Sunday afternoon.

Bamford came on a substitute and had a great chance to score for Leeds.

However, the £7 million (Sky Sports) England international striker could not convert his spot kick.

Leeds will return to action this week when they take on Leicester City away from home at the King Power Stadium.

Merson believes that the Foxes will beat Leeds 2-0.

Paul Merson on Patrick Bamford and Leicester City v Leeds United

Merson wrote: “I thought Leeds were unlucky against Arsenal, but they’re now dropping down in the Premier League table.

“I’m worried for them at the moment – when you’re near the bottom of the league, you cannot afford to miss penalties.

“Leeds did well at Palace for 45 minutes, and they need to put 90 minutes together. They play at a hundred miles an hour, and I don’t know how they’re going to do that for a full game.

Y”ou’d expect Leicester to score goals at the very least but all of a sudden, they’ve been beaten by Bournemouth and have had a goalless draw at Palace.

“They’ve only scored one goal in their last two games and I expect to bounce back this week.

Prediction: Leicester City 2-0 Leeds United.”

Worrying?

Leeds United are playing well at the moment, but they are simply not getting the results.

Against Arsenal, Leeds were the better team in the second half and should have at least picked up a point.

The Whites do look like a team who could end up fighting for survival in the Premier League.

Leeds are 15th in the Premier League table at the moment with nine points from nine matches, a point above third-from-bottom Southampton, who have played 10 games.
