Manchester City star Raheem Sterling raved about Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal after playing against them last night, as quoted on BBC Sport.

Sterling, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, scored the only goal of the Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening, as City beat Arsenal 1-0.

After the match, the England international – who cost City £44 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Liverpool in the summer of 2015, according to BBC Sport – praised Arsenal and the way they are playing under Arteta.

BBC Sport quotes Sterling as saying: “I think we moved the ball well. Riyad [Mahrez] was really aggressive in the first five minutes and we kept the pressure on.

“They’re a good team – you can see how they play under Mikel [Arteta] and we struggled at times, but we kept our composure and ground out a result.”

Encouraging for Arsenal

City were by far the better team at the Emirates Stadium, and Arsenal did not deserve anything from the game in North London.

However, Sterling’s praise should encourage the Gunners and should fill the fans will hope and optimism.

Under Arteta, Arsenal do have a clear way of doing things. It’s just that the execution needs to be better.

Arsenal are still very much in the race for the Champions League places in the Premier League table this season and are also in the Europa League.
