Speaking on The Guardian’s Football Weekly Podcast, Nedum Onuoha has been discussing Jesse Marsch after Leeds’ win against Liverpool.
The American manager was under a massive amount of pressure heading into the weekend after his team failed to win any of their last eight league games.
The Whites weren’t expected to win at Anfield, and there was a feeling that a heavy defeat could’ve led to Marsch’s departure.
However, the Yorkshire club pulled off the impossible, and after the game, Onuoha noticed that the Leeds players were quick to embrace their manager, stating that this shows how much the squad is buying into his style.

Marsch embraced
Onuoha noted just how close Marsch looked to the Leeds players.
“Nedum, do we read too much into body language after the game? The way he embraced those players, it made me think everyone is buying into Jesse Marsch at Leeds,” The pundit was asked.
“I think it’s a case-to-case basis, but I think you can read into that because I have seen times when players have actively avoided managers when they’ve gone looking for affection, so yeah, I think you can definitely look into that and fair play to him, he plays a positive style and you would want to be a part of that,” Onuoha said.
Not lost the dressing room
After such a torrid run of form, there were fears that Marsch was losing the dressing room at Leeds, but the performance at Anfield and the scenes afterwards showed that this is not the case.
It’s clear to see that the squad still believe in their manager and on Saturday evening they were playing their hearts out for him.
The Jesse Marsch project hasn’t quite worked how Leeds would’ve wanted it to so far, but perhaps things are about to turn around for the former RB Leipzig boss.
