Arsenal have been linked with a few big names this summer. The Gunners, like many other clubs, aren’t in their strongest financial position, which means they will have to get rid of some players in order to bring others in.
Mikel Arteta would like to move a number of players out this summer. Reports have claimed that the likes of Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Shkodran Mustafi, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Sead Kolasinac and even Mesut Ozil will be allowed to leave.
Arsenal have a few players out on loan as well who they would like to move on this summer. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is one of them and it is expected that the Gunners and Roma will come to an agreement soon.
One other player is Mohamed Elneny. The Egyptian spent a season out on loan at Besiktas where he became a fan favourite. The former Basel man will almost certainly be allowed to leave the Emirates this summer, but it looks like he won’t be heading back to Istanbul.
Elneny paid tribute to Besiktas and their fans on Twitter after a successful loan spell with the Turkish giants. He claimed that he had spent his last day in Istanbul and thanked their supporters for all the love.
Elneny unlikely to get a chance at Arsenal
The Egyptian is now due to return to Arsenal. He still has two years left on his contract with the Gunners, but all signs point to a potential exit before the next campaign.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up. His tweet almost made it clear that he will not be returning to Besiktas, opening the door for other clubs to potentially make a move.
