Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has labelled Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka as ‘special’ after he netted a hat-trick for England during their 7-0 thrashing for North Macedonia on Monday night at Old Trafford.
The 21-year-old, dubbed a starboy for a reason by Arsenal fans, already produced the best season of his career in the Premier League this term, put he put the cherry on top of the cake yesterday.
Inside an hour, Bukayo Saka had his hat-trick, he was being subbed off to a standing ovation from the Old Trafford crowd and Luke Shaw then publicly lauded his England teammate on Instagram by telling him: ‘You my friend are special @bukayosaka87’.
The final few months of the Premier League season ended in a fashion Saka wouldn’t have liked, but his final game of the 2022/23 campaign couldn’t have gone any better.
That was the Hale-End star’s first career hat-trick and the Arsenal faithful will be hoping that there is more to come from their high-flyer on the right.
That fresh-faced teenager that was brought into the first-team fold by Unai Emery is now blossoming into one of the best wide players in the country, but his biggest test will come next season.

Saka in the Champions League
For the first time in his career, Saka will play in the Champions League next season and this is his chance to take his game to the next level and the highest of levels.
Whilst the left-footed £195k-a-week star (Spotrac) is one of the best in the Premier League, he can’t put his name into lights on the European stage because he hasn’t played in the Champions League yet.
But if he starts to work his magic on the biggest club stage of them all, then Arsenal fans will only see the status of their starboy rise even further.
