Manchester City are narrow favourites to complete a treble of sorts on Saturday when they meet Chelsea in the Champions League final.
Pep Guardiola’s side have already won the Premier League and Carabao Cup this season.
And beating Chelsea in Porto tomorrow night would bookend another brilliant season for the Sky Blues.
But no fan of the Etihad Stadium club will be counting their chickens, particularly due to an injury rumour coming out of City’s camp tonight.
According to The Manchester Evening News, Guardiola has suffered a ‘major’ scare after Ilkay Gundogan limped out of training on the eve of the clash in Portugal.
Here’s how some Chelsea fans reacted to the Germany international’s potential absence:
Potentially a massive miss
It must be noted that the 30-year-old hasn’t been ruled out but, if he is, it’s a huge blow for Manchester City.
That’s because not only has the former Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder scored 17 goals in all competitions this season, but he makes Guardiola’s tick.
Kevin De Bruyne gets a lot of the credit – and very rightly so – but Gundogan’s influence can’t be understated and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel may be secretly relieved if diminutive midfielder is unavailable.
