Yossi Benayoun took to Instagram to praise Liel Abada after the Celtic winger netted his 13th goal of the season, as the Hoops beat Rangers 3-0 at Parkhead. A brilliant win, but also a crucial one in the race for the title.
Ange Postecoglou’s men were excellent in the first half, leading 3-0 at the break. Japan international Reo Hatate was superb, netting a brilliant brace. His second was a delightful curling effort past Allan McGregor.
Abada’s display went under the radar, but he gave Borna Barisic a torrid time on Celtic’s right. Indeed, his form this season has also been somewhat under-stated – as he took advantage of Barisic’s slow reactions.
Indeed, a deep cross caught Barisic on his heels and Abada stole in, finishing first time with consummate ease to net his 13th of 2021-22. Abada posted on Instagram after the match, underlining his delight at the win.
Abada underrated: Benayoun praises Celtic player on Instagram
Ask most Celtic fans, and the majority will tell you that the best signings of Postecoglou’s era have been Kyogo, Jota, Joe Hart, Cameron Carter-Vickers and potentially even Hatate at this early stage.
But right up there, should be Israel international Abada. Moving to a new country, at just 20 years of age, Abada has already produced a whopping 22 goal involvements in his 37 Celtic games. 13 goals, nine assists.
His form is keeping James Forrest out of the Celtic side and that is enough said. While Jota, Kyogo and others continue to steal the headlines, Abada is going under the radar – but Benayoun was full of praise, on his Instagram.
His message is translated as “Go on like this, star.”
