Kalvin Phillips sure hasn’t forgotten his Leeds United roots and he reminded two of his Manchester City teammates of that on Wednesday.
Pep Guardiola’s side came from behind to beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the Champions League, with Barnsley-born John Stones equalising with a thunderous effort from outside of the box.
Whilst Leeds-born Erling Haaland, who is one of the most dangerous players in the world right now, just can’t stop scoring, as his incredible acrobatic effort sealed the points for his side.
Phillips came off the bench for Haaland in the dying minutes of the game to see the game through and he did just that.
And then, on his Instagram story, after the game, he posted the following message which those from Yorkshire will love.
“Yorkshire boys coming through with the goals @johnstonesofficial and @erling.haaland,” said Phillips. “Unreal comeback.”

Gareth Southgate is set to name his England squad for the forthcoming international matches on Thursday and Phillips is in danger of losing his place.
Since leaving his boyhood club for Manchester City this summer, the 26-year-old has only managed a remarkable 13 minutes of football.
If Southgate does select him for these next set of matches, then it will be purely down to credit in the bank and what he did for his country at Euro 2020.
But, in the long term, this isn’t sustainable and he is at huge risk of missing out on a spot at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
