Yohan Cabaye could extend his contract at Crystal Palace, according to the latest reports from France.
Cabaye, 32, is one of a number of players in the final weeks of their respective contracts at Selhurst Park. The former Newcastle United midfielder fuelled rumours of an exit when he was pictured at Marseille’s training ground ahead of their Europa League final against Atletico Madrid this week but, according to L’Equipe, the 32-year-old will consider signing fresh terms with the Eagles.
The report claims Cabaye’s representatives are due to sit down with Palace officials early next week with hopes of thrashing out a new deal, although the Evening Standard suggests he may have to take a pay cut, with his current deal said to be worth £100,000-per-week.
Palace will already be without Ruben Loftus-Cheek next season following the end of his loan deal from Chelsea and, with Cabaye playing a key role in his side’s successful Premier League survival bid, manager Roy Hodgson will be determined not to lose another midfielder.
Joel Ward is another nearing the end of his contract, with Palace possibly seeking a replacement for the right-back in Ryan Fredericks, who is approaching the end of his current deal with promotion-chasing Fulham.
