The Frenchman is set to leave Turkish side Antalyaspor.
Samir Nasri #22 of Manchester City drives around Matteo Darmian #36 of Manchester United
It looks as though former Arsenal and Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri is about to end his short-lived Turkish adventure in the coming days.
It was reported earlier this month by Sky Sports that his current team Antalyaspor are ready to ditch him this month after a poor six months in the Super Lig.
That saw former Newcastle United bit-part player Yoan Gouffran suggest he should join him at fellow Turkish side Goztepe, telling Turkish source Miliyet:
“Obviously we have met a lot times. We met in the last match we played.
“Why not? If he is going to leave then why not join us. Nasri is a really terrific player.”
Yoan Gouffran is tackled by Pablo Hernandez of Leeds
But should Newcastle themselves take Gouffran’s lead and make a move themselves.
The French midfielder has certainly had his struggles recently, after being shunned at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola and now out of favour with a middle-of-the-road Turkish outfit.
However, it is important not to forget just how good a player Nasri once was and could yet be again if given the right opportunity.
Rafa Benitez could be the perfect manager to reignite the spark in Nasri, who has simply seen his career nosedive in recent years.

There is still a rich magnitude of talent in the 41-cap Les Bleus star and Newcastle are desperately lacking in creativity going forward.
Fans at Newcastle crave an entertainer, a Ginola, an Asprilla, a Beardsley and whilst Nasri’s better days are behind him at 30-years-old he is not yet washed up.
With Newcastle battling relegation, gambling on Nasri might be an inspired roll of the dice.
