The Magpies are back in action against Birmingham after the City Ground horror show.
Yoan Gouffran says Newcastle United players were left incensed in the dressing room after they receive two controversial red cards against Nottingham Forest last week, The Chronicle reports.
The Magpies suffered a second successive league defeat under Rafael Benitez for the first time since August when Jonjo Shelvey and Paul Dummett were both given their marching orders inside the first half at the City Ground.
In both instances, Forest captain Henri Lansbury made the most of minimal contact as he set Newcastle on their way to a loss that puts them within touching distance of second-placed Brighton in the Championship table.
The league leaders return to action against Birmingham City this weekend and Gouffran says his team-mates must put their anger at the back of their mind against Gary Rowett’s side.
“For us when we were playing it was like injustice,” Gouffran told NUTV in quotes reported by The Chronicle. “I think the changing room was at its worst.
“We were disappointed. Now we must concentrate on us and not remember what happened last Friday.”
Referee Steve Martin came under intense scrutiny for his performance at the City Ground last week, with former Premier League official Keith Hackett questioning the decision to give him such an important fixture.
And Newcastle will be desperate to focus purely on footballing matters at St James’ Park this weekend as they look to get back on track.
